Assignment: EKSTRA

What is it all about?

It's all about a woman who dreams to have her big break as an actress as she participates as an extra in
a local soap opera. Loida (main character) began as just a crowd then she was given a minor role as a maid, then a double. She was appreciated by the director but when she finally had a role with actual lines and she was suppose to be with her favorite actress in that scene, but she failed to deliver and was replaced. She started from the very bottom of the job until she was given bigger role and it shows that it does take a long to get to that big break that one dreams of.

What is it really all about?

Other than the actual life in the perspective of an extra, the film also shows the reality in the local film industry. It exploits actual or realistic happenings during a taping of a a local soap opera and how everyone else is treated, the problems encountered and how production runs in general. Having a supposedly passionate director, short-tempered assistant directors, a cheap producer perhaps, underpaid talents, even sponsors that want advertising in the film and so on. It shows the truth, it shows the reality in a production.
